Pest Control Treatments Offered in Houston

Termite Treatments

Before we can choose the best treatment plan for your home, we send one of our technicians to your property to conduct a thorough inspection. Inspections are necessary so we can determine whether to use a liquid treatment, bait stations, or both to eradicate your termite problem before it gets unmanageable.

Our liquid termite treatment is available to create an exterior barrier around your home. A technician will disperse the solution along each side of the property to keep termites from getting into your home and causing damage. This solution disorients the termites, causing them to return to their colony. The affected termites then further disperse the liquid solution to other termites that come into contact. The goal is to reach the queen, wiping out the entire colony or preventing it from expanding.
The second treatment option is our termite bait stations. These are very simple to install but high on impact. We place these bait stations above or below the ground surrounding the perimeter of your home. They contain poisonous wood and other materials that termites ingest. The scent of the material attracts the termites to carry it back to their colony. Like the liquid solution, the goal is to kill the queen and wipe out the colony.
If we conduct our inspection and find that you have an extensive termite problem, we will apply our liquid treatment around your home and strategically place bait stations in areas with a lot of termite activity. Our goal is to ensure no more termites enter your home and exterminate those that do.

Mosquito Treatments

We also offer multiple mosquito treatments to protect you and your family from irritating bites and possibly diseases such as the West Nile virus and Zika. The most effective method we use is mosquito fogging around the perimeter of your home.

Our technicians will use a specialized fog machine to cover your yard and any areas where mosquitoes are prevalent in a solution mist. The mist will not kill the mosquitoes, but it will deter them from entering the barrier created by the fog. We recommend repeating this fog treatment once every 30 to 60 days or whenever you start to notice mosquitoes within the barrier zone.

Cockroach Elimination

To eliminate the cockroaches from your home, you can deter them in the following ways:

  • Seal up your home. Inspect the outer structure of your home to find potential places where roaches and other pests can creep in. If you like to keep your doors or windows open on nice days, make sure you have screens to keep them from coming through open windows or doorways.
  • Keep a clean house. Vacuum your floors once a week, do the dishes regularly, and don’t leave food outside by doorways and other access points where cockroaches might try to enter looking for more. Cockroaches detest anything that smells like citrus or mint, so consider spraying a scented air freshener or growing mint in your kitchen as a natural deterrent.
  • Take protective measures outside of your home. Sweep foliage off your deck or patio regularly to deter cockroaches from sheltering under the leaves and moving closer to your house. You can also run the lawnmower to frighten roaches away and remove weeds close to the house to limit their hiding places.
  • Place bait stations in or outside your house to trap and kill cockroaches. Place them near doorways, cardboard boxes, dark corners, or garbage cans, as these are prime roach areas.

If these methods are not producing results, and you still see cockroaches, it might be time to contact a professional to prevent further infestations. At Bulwark Exterminators, we have special ways to deal with these pests and their destructive habits. So contact us to schedule an inspection.

General Pest Control

For other bugs such as ants, spiders, or crickets, you can apply a few preventive measures to limit or deter infestation.

For ants, you can set up small traps around your home. The ants will carry the poisonous material back to their colony, hopefully killing off a large part of it.

You can also prevent ant infestations by keeping a clean home, storing food in sealed containers, making sure firewood is not placed against the house, and pruning trees or shrubs that rest against your home. Taking these measures is extremely important as ants can climb up branches, then onto the siding of your house, which may have unsealed cracks or vents that lead into your home.

Spiders are another pest to watch out for. Black widows, wolf spiders, violin spiders, and harvestmen spiders are particularly common in Texas. For spider prevention, seal foundation cracks around the exterior of your home, limit clutter, and vacuum rooms frequently to deter web-building. You can also try to increase sunlight in usually dark corners where they would be most likely to build webs.

Crickets are noisy pests that can enter your home through unventilated areas. They are particularly fond of dark, damp places, typically in basements or crawl spaces. To prevent crickets from finding their way into your home, seal any exterior cracks in the foundation, windows, or doors. Another way to deter crickets is to install yellow lightbulbs at the exterior points of your home and to weed garden beds regularly.

To sum it up, keeping a clean home with a tightly sealed foundation is essential for preventing pests from entering and building a home for themselves in your home with you, your children, and your pets.

Residential Pest Control

We understand that letting a stranger into your home is a big deal. You want to make sure your kids, pets, and loved ones get treated with kindness and respect. To help put you at ease, here are some policies and values we hold our employees to that you can review before your first treatment.

Hiring the Right Technician

To provide you with the best service possible, we have several requirements for our new hires before they can attend scheduled appointments at your home. Each of our prospective team members must undergo a background check before being considered for a position. We do background checks to make sure employees are upstanding citizens who will treat your home with care.

Following a routine background check, we train each of our employees to use our equipment, interact with customers, and identify potential pests in and around your home.

Using the Right Products

At Bulwark, we are determined to use environmentally friendly products wherever possible to keep the local environment, your children, and pets away from harmful chemicals. We are avid fans of hybrid green pest solutions that get the job done without harsh pesticides. They work as part of our integrated pest management (IPM) system, which, when applied, can last 30 to 60 days.

Power-Spraying the Exterior Regularly

As our name suggests, Bulwark means barrier. We design our services to keep the pests out of your home. That’s why we recommend our regular outside power spray. This treatment administered by one of our technicians kills any pest infestations around the exterior of your home. It creates a protective barrier to prevent infestations from occurring. If you still see pests after we administer our treatment, we will return within 48 hours to give you a free second treatment.
